BOSTON —

In her first-ever "State of the Schools" address on Tuesday night, Boston Mayor Michelle Wu announced goals to provide more equitable education for all of the city's students.

"The state of our schools is the state of our city's future," Wu said.

The mayor announced goals to provide before and after-school programs at every Boston Public School, promising to make it available for every BPS family.

She also announced a program called "Wicked Math." The goal is to start new math clubs and train older students to train younger students on the subject.

The mayor says she wanted to use the State of the Schools to provide a more comprehensive overview of the work in Boston schools than she is able to do during her "State of the City" address.
