KNOXVILLE, Tenn. — Starting Nov. 3, 2025, how people behind prison bars in Tennessee receive their mail will change.

The Tennessee Department of Corrections will transition from physical mail to scanned, digitized personal mail for inmates at all TDOC facilities.

Buel and Teresa Moore from Lenoir City still remember sending pictures and letters to their daughter during her time in prison.

"I think most of the mailings that Teresa did was pictures. Our daughter would request pictures, and so we would send those by mail," said Buel.

Now, when sending a letter, you will no longer address it to the prison. Instead, it should be addressed by the example below.
