COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (KKTV) - Nearly a month into the government shutdown, many Americans are feeling an impact. Tuesday, air traffic controllers received a $0 paycheck.
Zac Ploch is an air traffic controller at DIA. He told 11 News’ sister station in Denver that the essential government workers will not receive that back pay until the end of the shutdown.
The National Air Traffic Controllers Association said their workers are working overtime, six days a week, and 10-hour shifts.
Members of the association handed out information to flyers in many major airports across the country to educate people on what the shutdown means for controllers.
“We are urging everybody to reach out to the members of congress with one simple message: end the shutdown,” Ploch said.
