GRAND ISLAND, Neb. — Three Grand Island organizations showed their appreciation for first responders Monday afternoon at First Presbyterian Church in Grand Island on National First Responders Day.
Willow Rising, Heartland CASA and First Light Advocacy Center organized the event to thank the men and women who respond when the community is in need.
“We know the calls they go out on for the people who are experiencing domestic violence and sexual violence can be some of the most dangerous calls for them,” said Teshawna Sawyer, executive director of Willow Rising. “We just want them to know how great they are for all the things they do for us.”
Erin Johnson, executive director of Heartland CASA, said the appreciation event benefits everyone involved.
