New Delhi: Silent strokes are small, unnoticed brain injuries that occur without any immediate or visible symptoms. In contrast to major strokes, which lead to sudden loss of strength or speech capability, silent strokes rarely leave a trace and only very gradually reveal their damaging effects on brain function. These types of stroke usually arise after a situation in which the smallest blood vessels of the brain are blocked, and thus, the oxygenation of certain parts is impaired, which in turn results in somewhat forgotten but still permanent scars in the brain tissue.
