LAKE CHARLES, La. (KPLC) - Our big changes have finally arrived as we are tracking the coolest air of the fall season pushing into Southwest Louisiana.

We first have to get through a very windy stretch ahead for our afternoon as a Wind Advisory remains in place through 7 p.m. this evening.

Gust could easily reach 35 to 40 mph at times and that will continue to bring in the cooler and drier air for our Thursday.

Highs today will be some 20 degrees cooler than what we saw on our Tuesday as we are only topping out in the middle to upper 60s.

Make sure to have the heavier jacket or coat ready for our Thursday morning as we are back into the middle 40s for most.

Sunshine will be a big factor through Thursday and Friday as we are gearing up for some beautiful and much deserved quiet weather
