Emotional emergency calls from the moments after two 17-year-old girls who were struck and killed on Sept. 29 in a hit-and-run crash in Cranford were obtained by NJ Advance Media Tuesday.

Seven different callers to 911 dispatchers described seeing at least one person injured in the crash that claimed the lives of Maria Niotis and Isabella Salas, according to an audio file released by the Union County Prosecutor’s Office.

“Please send an ambulance... I’m not sure what happened, there’s someone in the front of my house,” a female caller said. “A black SUV flew down the road and hit people.”

When the dispatcher asked if the vehicle was still there, the caller said no, “It was like a hit-and-run.”
