PEORIA ( 25News Now ) - A $10 million investment from the state will help transform one of Peoria’s busiest corridors into a safer, more accessible route for drivers, pedestrians, and cyclists, said Gov. JB Pritzker during a visit to the River City on Tuesday.
With Mayor Rita Ali at his side, Pritzker announced Peoria County will receive funding to rebuild and modernize North Sheridan Road between West Glen Avenue and West Northmoor Road.
The project to begin in 2027 is part of the six-year, $50.6 billion Rebuild Illinois program, billed as the largest infrastructure investment in the state’s history.
“Sheridan Road is a critical access point that connects residents to vital community institutions, but for too long, it’s been run down, congested and unsafe for drivers and pedestrians
