MEMPHIS, Tenn. - A 19-year-old has been charged with first-degree murder, among other crimes, in the shooting death of a two-year-old in Orange Mound, the U.S. Marshals Service said Tuesday.

Jalen Thomas has been charged with first-degree murder, criminal attempted first-degree murder, employing a firearm with intent to commit a felony, and two counts of reckless endangerment with a deadly weapon, Marshals said; the charges stem from a shooting on Josephine Street in Orange Mound in April, where a two-year-old boy was killed.

"At approximately 12:15 pm on October 28, 2025, members of the Memphis Safe Task Force conducted a coordinated effort and arrested Thomas in the 1000 block of S. Lauderdale Street," the Marshals said.
