Community events for Homestead at Marley Park and a holiday event at Royal Ranch are receiving a financial boost from the city of Surprise.

The city council earlier this month approved the recommendation from the Sub-Committee on Community Outreach, Partnerships and Grants to award both groups $5,000 as part of the Surprise Neighborhood Grant Program.

Councilmembers Chris Judd, Nick Haney and Patrick Duffy comprised the sub-committee and chose the two groups out of three that applied for $10,000 in funds.

The groups have already been informed of the award, and the money is available now. They must spend it by June 15.
