Stevie Van Zandt is known for many things. He’s a musician, a longtime member of the E Street Band with Bruce Springsteen, and an actor, notably for his role on “The Sopranos.”

Now, he wants to be known as something else — a supporter of education and classrooms across the country.

Van Zandt is the founder of TeachRock, an organization dedicated to offering lesson plans for teachers who want to bring life and pop culture into their classrooms. The lesson plans use the stories of artists from Sam Cooke to Beyoncé to make learning relatable and engaging for students.

Van Zandt joined “Mornings On 1” Wednesday to talk about TeachRock and how music can inspire learning.
