The day after trading Kyle Dugger , the Patriots are adding more depth to their safety position.
According to a source, the Patriots are signing safety John Saunders Jr. off the Miami Dolphins’ practice squad. A highly touted undrafted free agent, Saunders signed with the AFC East rival this offseason. Now, he heads to New England.
Saunders played cornerback and safety in college, splitting his time at Miami (Ohio) and Ole Miss. Last year, he finished with three interceptions, four forced fumbles, and 47 tackles. According to ESPN, the Patriots had Saunders in for a pre-draft visit. After Saunders went undrafted, the Dolphins signed the safety to a big deal for an undrafted player with $120,000 in guaranteed money.
