NORWAY, Maine — A late-night fire on Monday destroyed a home on Summer Street in Norway, but officials say no one was hurt.

The Norway Fire Department responded to the blaze at 25 Summer Street around 10:48 p.m. on Oct. 27. When crews arrived, the home was already fully engulfed in flames, according to a release from the Maine Department of Public Safety .

One person was home at the time and was able to escape safely. No injuries were reported.

Investigators from the Office of the State Fire Marshal later determined the fire was accidental, likely caused by the careless disposal of smoking materials.

The home was deemed a total loss.
