4 children injured in explosion while playing cricket in Handwara

Four children sustained injuries in an explosion that occurred while they were playing cricket in Kulangam area of Handwara on Wednesday.

Officials told that the injured were initially shifted to GMC Handwara and later referred to SKIMS Soura for advanced treatment.

The injured have been identified as Uzair Tahir, son of Tahir Ahmad Bhat; Sajid Rashid, son of Abdul Rashid Sofi; Hazim Shabir, son of Shabir Ahmad Beigh; and Zeyan Tahir, son of Tahir Ahmad Bhat — all residents of Tutigund Kulangam.

Medical Superintendent of GMC Handwara, Dr Aijaz Ahmad, confirmed the incident, stating that the children had suffered burn injuries.

Meanwhile, police along with a Bomb Disposal Squad reached the spot to ascertain the nature of the explosion. Further details are awaited.
