MONTEGO BAY, JAMAICA (FOX Carolina) - An orphanage in Jamaica where an Upstate native works gave an update after Hurricane Melissa made landfall .

The Associated Press said heavy floodwaters swept across Jamaica, winds tore roofs off buildings and boulders tumbled onto roads Tuesday as Hurricane Melissa pummeled the Caribbean island as a catastrophic Category 5 storm, one of the strongest Atlantic hurricanes on record.

On Tuesday night, Jamaica Relief Ministries posted on social media that thankfully, there were no casualties or injuries at their orphanage.
