HOUSTON, Texas (KTRK) -- Two people were rushed to the hospital, and several were treated at the scene following an apartment fire in west Houston, according to the Houston Fire Department.

Firefighters were called shortly after 8:30 a.m. on Wednesday morning to the 11200 block of Olympia Drive for an apartment complex fire, HFD said.

HFD Senior Captain Reyes said that before firefighters arrived, two people had jumped out of a second-story window. He added that the apartment's maintenance crew put a couch on the ground to cushion their fall.

"We also assisted two other people when we got out here," Capt. Reyes said.
