SPRINGFIELD — A jury awarded former mayoral aide Darryl Moss more than $750,000 over his firing in 2020.
After a weeklong trial that featured days of testimony from Mayor Domenic J. Sarno, jurors found that while there was no racial discrimination against Moss, the administration retaliated against him for pushing back on community issues.
Moss was an aide to Sarno for 12 years until he was fired over a social media post at the peak of the Black Lives Matter movement. Sarno contended he was ousted because he violated a newly established social media policy banning incendiary posts.
