Over the years, New Orleans’ Bywater neighborhood — a once-industrial stretch just east of the French Quarter — has become a magnet for artists, hipsters, and most recently, travel journalists.

On Sunday, just months after The New York Times explored its restaurants, bars and cultural centers, CNN also featured the neighborhood in its travel section — a reflection of how the Bywater’s evolution, shaped by migration and gentrification, has entered the mainstream.
