HOLYOKE, Mass. (WWLP) - A suspect was arrested on Tuesday in connection with narcotics distribution in Holyoke.

Holyoke Police Chief Brian Keenan stated that on Tuesday, members of the Holyoke Police Narcotics Bureau and the DEA Springfield Resident Office were investigating known 'problem areas' in the city where narcotics distribution was suspected to occur.

At approximately 12:45 p.m., investigators saw suspected drug activity in the area of Spring Street and Clemente Street. They approached the suspect and searched him, seizing approximately 28 capsules of crack cocaine, 53 bags of heroin, and $137 in cash.

The suspect was identified as 38-year-old Matthew Oakes of Holyoke and arrested. He is charged with the following: • Possession with the Intent to Distribute a Class A Drug •
