TAYLORVILLE, Ill. (WTVO) — Illinois Gov. JB Pritzker signed an Executive Order on Wednesday declaring an Agricultural Export Crisis in response to trade policies enacted by the White House.
According to the Governor's Office, the Trump administration's tariff policies have allowed foreign competitors to horn in on markets built by Illinois farmers.
Pritzker pointed to falling soybean prices, rising production costs, global competition, and setbacks for beef farmers, as the Trump administration has announced plans to import tariff-free beef from Argentina.
