As the federal government shutdown is about to enter its second month, Governor Matt Meyer Wednesday proposed a series of actions to keep vital services going - including Supplemental Nutrition Assistance (SNAP).
SNAP benefits are expected to be suspended Saturday due to the shutdown. Democrats continue to hold out for continuing tax subsidies for the Affordable Care Act that are due to expire at the end of 2025.
"President Trump cares more about his gold ballroom than your dining room, your class room or the emergency room," Meyer said.
The Governor said he was declaring a State of Emergency to fund SNAP benefits on a week-by-week basis into November. An estimated 60,000 Delaware households receive supplemental nutrition assistance.
