Newton Police Department is investigating the death of a 67-year-old man found at a home on Pine Street Tuesday afternoon.

According to Chief McKenzie Patrick, Newton County E-911 dispatched first responders at approximately 4:20 p.m. on October 28, 2025, for a report of a deceased male. Newton Police Department, Newton Fire & Rescue, AmeriPro EMS, and the Newton County Coroner responded to the scene.

The victim has been identified as 67-year-old Ray Charles Evans, of Newton. Chief Patrick said the investigation is active. At this time, there are no signs of foul play.

“The Newton Police Department extends our deepest condolences to Mr. Evans’ family in their time of bereavement,” Chief Patrick said.
