Sainsbury's has introduced major changes to how Nectar points are collected and spent in stores, and the move has left some shoppers unimpressed.

Customers have slammed the supermarket for introducing the 'tedious' new rules that the retailer claims is a "more secure" way for shoppers to save money.

In an email sent to customers this week, Sainsbury's explained that the Nectar app will now use a QR code for collecting and spending points.

Customers who use the app will need to ensure they have the latest version on their phone to ensure they have a QR code to use. The QR code can be saved directly into the phone's wallet for easier access, the supermarket added.
