FAIRHAVEN, Mass. (WLNE) — The Fairhaven Police Department said that multiple schools in the town were given “stay put” orders while police searched for a suspect nearby on Wednesday.
Police said a man who was wanted for an outstanding warrant was seen at a car wash on Huttleston Avenue.
Police attempted to apprehend the suspect, who fled behind the middle school and into the woods.
The middle school was dismissing students at the time, and the order was given to it and two nearby elementary schools.
Police said officers searched the nearby wooded area and located the unarmed suspect, who was taken into custody.
The department also said that students were not in any danger.
