New Mexico Governor Michelle Lujan Grisham is making an announcement about the status of the SNAP program in the state.
The governor is addressing concerns about the pause in benefits from the USDA amid the current government shutdown.
The announcement comes after the USDA said there would be no Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program benefits will be issued on Nov. 1 as the government shutdown continues.
That means that roughly 457,000 people in New Mexico will not receive critical food assistance from SNAP in November unless Congress can come to an agreement.
