With hundreds of thousands of Oregonians potentially set to lose their SNAP food benefits amid the ongoing federal government shutdown , many businesses and organizations are stepping up to offer meals and other assistance.

A number of restaurants will be giving out free food , while other businesses and nonprofits are holding donation drives.

Here’s a look at some of the organizations accepting donations to help those at risk of losing benefits from the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program.

Don’t Shoot Portland is accepting donations of food, water, clothing, personal care items and more from 4-7 p.m. Wednesday at its annex at 927 N.W. Everett St. in Portland.

Montavilla Brew Works is hosting a benefit for SNAP and local food banks from 3-9 p.m. Thursday at its Southeast Po
