Aberdeen returned to winning ways on Wednesday night with an impressive 1-0 victory against a Kilmarnock side that made the visitors work hard for the points.

Stuart Armstrong's volleyed goal - his first for the Dons - gave his side a deserved half-time lead at Rugby Park before the hosts saw a Robbie Deas effort chalked off for offside after the break.

But Kilmarnock threw everything at Jimmy Thelin's side only for the Reds to repel wave after wave of attack and take the three points back to Pittodrie .

It was a far improved showing from their defeat to Hibs on Sunday and one that eases the pressure on the Dons boss after a heroic shift in defence shut out Stuart Kettlewell's side.
