LEXINGTON, Ky. — A Lexington gym has been awarded and recognized with a national grant for its dedication to supporting its community.

At 11 years old, Piper Ramirez is taking control of her future one win at a time, at the House of Best Kept Secrets Boxing Club . The nine-year-old gym is at its third location at the Eastland Shopping Center.

Guillermo Ramirez, her father and the gym’s co-owner, said that since last year, the gym has grown in size and in the number of boxers.

“We put on shows every two months here at our gym, and we host boxing gyms from as far as Detroit, Chicago, Indianapolis ... Alabama, Florida,” he said. “Most recently, we’re hosting gyms from California. It gives us the platform and the ability to have competitions.”
