Srinagar, Oct 29: The Jammu and Kashmir Government has confirmed that untreated industrial waste from Industrial Estate (I.E) Rangreth and waste from JAKLI Army establishment are being discharged into flood channel passing through Rawalpora to Peerbagh, near Hill View Colony Rawalpora.
In response to starred question tabled by MLA Mushtaq Guroo, the Minister In-charge Industries & Commerce Department stated that a Common Effluent Treatment Plant (CETP) with a capacity of 1.0 MLD has been constructed by SIDCO at Rangreth.
The plant employs Moving Bed Biofilm Reactor (MBBR) technology for treating industrial waste. Additionally, a sewerage drainage pipeline has been laid to carry treated water to the existing UEED/City Drainage system.
