CARBONDALE, Ill. (KFVS) - Students at SIU’s School of Theater and Dance are gearing up to perform “Ajax in Iraq.”

The play, written by Ellen McLaughlin, is inspired by the experiences of real-life Iraq war veterans and their families, combined with a Greek tragedy.

The production’s director, Omiyemi Artisia Green, is a Professor of Theatre and Africana Studies at College of William & Mary in Virginia.

“This production tells the story of Ajax in Iraq through the experiences of A.J. and other U.S. soldiers who are serving America.”

Green has worked with SIU theater students in the past.

“I couldn’t pass up another opportunity to come and work with them again, as well as new students to the production.”
