Until July this year, Doaba region’s Kapurthala was leading the dengue tally, but now Hoshiarpur has taken the lead. However, even as the region is in the most vulnerable phase of the dengue season in the peak of the autumn months, Jalandhar has continued to stay at a safe third spot in Doaba in terms of dengue cases.
Across Doaba, with 129 cases, Hoshiarpur leads in cases count, Kapurthala follows with 81 cases, Jalandhar retains third post with 77 cases and Nawanshahr has so far reported 31 cases of dengue.
In 2016 and 2021, Jalandhar had seen over 400 cases a year. But in the past two years, less than 200 cases of dengue (per year) have been reported in Jalandhar. The pattern seems to be repeating this year — even after the autumn spike.
