A Portland man was sentenced earlier this month to 13½ years in prison for a 2023 shooting at an east Vancouver apartment complex . Investigators say he shot the cousin of a woman he had dated as retaliation for their breakup and her moving away.

MJ Joker, 22, pleaded guilty Oct. 3 in Clark County Superior Court to first-degree assault with a deadly weapon enhancement. His sentence will run concurrent with four other criminal cases that include third-degree assault, prison or jail riot, theft of a motor vehicle and possession of a stolen vehicle, court records show.
