Community members gathered at the Kenai Senior Center on Wednesday to celebrate the completion of the Kenai Bluff Stabilization Project, which has reinforced nearly 5,000 feet of bluff along the north shore of the Kenai River.

“I think the stars all aligned with working with Senator Murkowski’s office, the U.S Corps of Engineers, and the contractor- made the project in the end,” said Kenai Mayor Henry Knackstedt. “Everything happened quickly, efficiently, economically, and here we are. It’s done over a year earlier than was allotted to the project.”

Construction began in mid-May this year.
