WEXFORD COUNTY — During a Special Meeting held by the Veterans Service Committee Wednesday morning, they addressed two topics, the current vacancies in the department and Deliberation Regarding Program Continuation with Millage Funding.

Earlier this month the state changed the requirements for the County Veteran Service Fund Grant meaning that the committee’s millage will have to now fund programs .

The Freedom Ride Program and the Northwest Michigan Veterans Expo will now receive funding through the millage, counseling services of Mike Coonan will not.

After the meeting, Wexford County Administrator Joe Porterfield said the millage funds can only be used for Wexford County veterans and their families only, so they will now have to make budget amendments.
