LANSING — Michigan State Police are looking for some experienced officers to join them.

In an October 29 news release, MSP said they are accepting applications from licensed law enforcement officers to join their 151st Trooper Recruit School. They expect it to start in July 2026.

According to the release, it’s a 12-week lateral entry recruit school , which is shorter than their regular 20-22 week program. MSP said it’s an accelerated training opportunity that rewards experience.

The Director of the Michigan State Police, James F. Grady II, said it’s part of an effort to modernize the agency’s recruiting and training processes.
