More than twenty residents gathered in Napaskiak for a public meeting to discuss ongoing recovery efforts following recent storm damage.

According to the Alaska Division of Forestry & Fire Protection, representatives from the City of Napaskiak, the Village Council, AVCP, Naps Inc., and the Division of Forestry and Fire Protection were all in attendance.

Task Force Lead Jon Cox shared that 21 homes were inspected across the community, with 10 showing signs of water damage. Crews have already removed damaged floor insulation and installed heaters in four homes.

Residents asked about when new building materials will arrive and discussed ways to hire local workers to help with rebuilding. Officials say they’ll continue coordinating efforts and plan to meet again next week to review progress
