The Cummer Museum is a neighborhood staple of Jacksonville’s Riverside area.
Established in 1958, when Ninah Cummer donated her art collection and riverfront home to create a museum, her main collection of 60 pieces has ballooned to include more than 5,000 today.
The prized centerpiece of the museum is its historical gardens, which sit right along the banks of the St. Johns River for everyone to enjoy.
News4JAX anchor Joy Purdy toured the museum’s halls to see one-of-a-kind ancient art and artifacts, a replica of a room from the Cummer family home, and the facility’s family-friendly learning center.
Joy also took a walk down memory lane through the three distinct gardens, now recognized in the National Register of Historic Places and site of Joy’s own wedding reception nearly 20 years
