OMAHA, Neb. —
A man charged in a shooting in Omaha's Old Market earlier this month now faces a federal firearms charge.
Khyre Holbert is charged with being a felon in possession of a firearm during that shooting near 13th and Howard on October 4th. That's on top of the charges he was already facing in district court, which include first-degree assault.
Holbert pleaded guilty to three federal charges in 2018 and was sentenced to 20 years in prison. In January, the Biden administration granted him clemency. The U.S. Attorney's Office objected, citing Holbert's gang affiliation and "significant criminal history." The clemency was ordered anyway.
