Northern Territory Chief Minister Lia Finocchiaro has slammed the Victorian Government over a hospital policy that prioritises treatment for people who identify as Indigenous.
The Herald Sun this week revealed St Vincent’s Hospital has implemented a policy which sees all Indigenous patients categorised as “Category 3” status, meaning they are seen within 30 minutes of arriving at the emergency department.
Mrs Finocchiaro has categorically ruled out allowing a similar policy at hospitals in the Northern Territory, where more than 70 per cent of patients are Aboriginal.
“What is going on in Victoria right now? I think if you live there you have to be seriously questioning why you are staying,” she told Sky News Australia.
