A strong frontal system moving north from the Gulf is producing strong and gusty winds across portions of the Kenai Peninsula.
According to the National Weather Service, cool air ahead of the front has kept falling precipitation mostly in the form of wet, heavy snow along portions of the Seward Highway between Moose Pass and Portage.
The strongest wind gusts up to 40 mph will remain focused over Portage Valley, but gusts of up to 30 mph will still be possible along portions of the Seward Highway through this Wednesday Night.
Use extra caution if you plan to travel along the Seward Highway between Portage and Moose Pass through this evening, especially near Turnagain Pass, where temperatures are coldest and where an additional 3 to 6 inches of accumulation is possible on paved surfaces t
