LAFAYETTE — Peak to Peak boys soccer knows well the importance of applying pressure rather than succumbing to it in big games.
With Wednesday’s Class 3A first-round state tournament matchup against No. 28 seed Arrupe Jesuit certainly qualifying as that, the No. 5 Pumas imposed their will often and were rewarded with a 4-0 shutout win.
“We really wanted to be on the front foot and dictate the tempo of the game,” Peak to Peak head coach James Wagenschutz said. “You love it when a team executes a game plan like that.”
Junior Aayush Karki helped fulfill Wagenschutz’s game plan less than three minutes into regulation when he scored his third goal of the season, putting the Pumas (8-2-5) up 1-0 early.
