ALEXANDRIA, La. (KALB) - October is Domestic Violence Awareness Month, and as it comes to a close, advocates here in Alexandria want the community to remember that help is available year-round.

Rise Above Domestic Violence was held at Greater Saint Lawrence Missionary Baptist Church in Alexandria on October 29. The event featured local advocate and counselor Candy Christophe as the guest speaker.

Christophe is also a survivor herself, having endured abuse from her high school boyfriend. Traum
