NEW ORLEANS (WGNO) — Marcia Ball, a popular New Orleans performer, has been diagnosed with Lou Gherig's Disease, or ALS.

In a post on Facebook, she said she learned she had ALS after a trip to the Mayo Clinic. She said she is in the early stage of the disease, but she's no longer able to sing.

Ball has cancelled all of her performances and will receive treatment at the University of Texas at San Antonio.
