SAVANNAH, Ga. (WSAV) — The Chatham County Sheriff's Office (CCSO) is taking an extra safety step to protect children and families on Halloween Friday.
The agency is targeting registered sex offenders with the launch of its first ever “Operation Night Watch,” with registered sex offenders as the main target.
From 6-9 p.m. Halloween night, all “Level 3 Registered Sex Offenders” who live in Chatham County must report to the CCSO. They will remain in the facility for those three hours, a CCSO spokesperson said.
Officials said deputies from the Sex Offender Registration and Tracking Unit will also be conducting checks on other registered offenders Halloween night.
Several other counties across the Coastal Empire are running similar programs on Halloween night, including Effingham and Screve
