A magistrate has invited a review of a bail decision made in bizarre circumstances, after he released a man accused of threatening a federal senator without hearing a prosecutor's opposition.
"I do not want to waste my time any further with this matter," magistrate James Lawton said on Thursday, October 30.
"If you think I have denied procedural fairness, I invite you to review my decision."
Christopher James Richards, also known as Chris Morrd, faced the ACT Magistrates Court after allegedly leaving a threatening voicemail for United Australia Party senator Ralph Babet.
Richards appeared via audio-visual link from a remote room and could be seen sporadically hiding under a table.
He talked over the top of lawyers and the magistrate repeatedly asked him to be quiet.
