ROANE COUNTY, W.Va. (WSAZ) - Roane County Schools is working toward a consolidation plan to possibly close Geary and Walton K-8 schools.
The third of five public hearings took place at Spencer Elementary on Wednesday.
After three public meetings, parents say they feel helpless.
Gabe Boggs, a parent at Geary K-8 said, “I worry about the kids that live in the most rural parts of this county that have talents that no one’s ever going to see because they are not able to catch a bus to school.”
If both schools close, students would move into Spencer Elementary, Middle and Roane County High School, all while losing their community hub.
