CHARLESTON, W.Va. (WSAZ) – The West Virginia Culture Center got transformed into a hauntingly good time on Wednesday night.

The West Virginia Department of Tourism hosted a Halloween bash, with costumes and exciting entertainment.

The cultural center also had a spot to listen to folklore stories from around West Virginia. To go along with the folklore was a cryptid scavenger hunt where folks could set out on a quest in the state museum to discover legendary West Virginia cryptids hidden throughout the exhibits.

Meanwhile, trick-or-treaters took a walk on Kanawha Boulevard to receive a special treat.

West Virginia Gov. Patrick Morrisey and first lady Denise Morrisey greeted families dressed in their spookiest outfits at the north gate of the governor’s mansion.
