Halloween in the Aspen area — a day of reckoning. It’s a time when it becomes painfully obvious how few full-time residents actually live in the city or stick around for the offseason as few houses are lit up with people giving candy away to trick-or-treaters on their front porches.

Second-homeowners generally aren’t in town in late October. They play out their Halloween rituals in Texas and elsewhere, if at all. Will Friday’s Halloween be the Day of the Dead one day early?
