Rachel Reeves has issued an apology for an "inadvertent error" after she breached local housing regulations by renting out her family home without the necessary licence.
In a letter addressed to Keir Starmer , the Chancellor admitted that she was unaware of the licensing requirements in Dulwich Wood, south London. In response, No10 released a statement saying that the Prime Minister had consulted his independent ethics adviser, Sir Laurie Magnus, who concluded that no further investigation was needed.
Ms Reeves confessed that she failed to secure the required "selective" rental licence for the property when she moved into No11 Downing Street last year, a requirement enforced by Southwark Council in the ward.
