The Eagles made a shrewd move ahead of the trade deadline to address a glaring weakness — and they did so with some help from a secret weapon in the scouting department.
The Eagles acquired Jets cornerback Michael Carter II on Wednesday, shoring up a need and giving defensive coordinator Vic Fangio more options in the secondary.
Carter was a key contributor with the Jets as a nickel corner. He totaled 223 tackles, 26 passes defended and two interceptions in 65 games. Carter was particularly good two seasons ago, when he was the league’s No. 1 cover corner in the slot, per Pro Football Focus.
Carter was a nice find by the Jets in the 2021 NFL draft. The former Duke standout was selected by New York with the No. 154 overall pick in the fifth round.
